Shields Tavern
In the 18th century, Shields Tavern was a popular gathering place for travelers and Williamsburg’s middle class. The fare we serve today reflects the tastes of the “middling sort” in both Williamsburg and England during that time. Our menu is inspired by recipes found in 18th-century cookbooks, including Dictionarium Domesticum, The Complete Housewife, and The Court and Country Cook.
