The recently formed Early Music Chamber Orchestra, Bruton Baroque, will begin its season “The Grand Tour” with a program from Italy on Thursday, September 19. Theorbo and lute player Cameron Welke will be the featured guest artist, and vocalists Autry Harper, Claudia Kessel and Brian Blair will bring some of marvelous Monteverdi’s music to the evening, including the opening prologue from his early opera, L’Orfeo. Accompanied by Sophie Genevieve Lowe and Susannah Livingston on baroque violins, Jane Lenz on baroque viola, Ryan Lowe on baroque cello, and Rebecca Davy on harpsichord. Bruton Baroque is independent from the Parish but will make the historic space its home venue. This is the first of a 4-concert series, with subsequent performances on November 9, April 5, and June 14.
In order to bring professional early music performers to our community there will be a ticket cost of $20 per concert. Tickets available at the door or in advance on the church's website, www.brutonparish.org, after August 15.
Parking near the Historic Area is recommended. If you plan to park at the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center, please check the bus schedule.
