Historians at Work: Race, Slavery, and the Law

Join the Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute for an online historian talk to explore the development of slavery and the law from the forced arrival of the first Africans in Virginia through the 18th century. In this program, Dr. Derek Litvak a historian with Colonial Williamsburg, will discuss the evolution of race-based chattel slavery in Colonial Virginia and the experiences of enslaved people throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
