Colonial Williamsburg, in partnership with iCivics, has developed two exciting games for students--Uncovering Loyalties and Investigation Declaration.
We invite middle and higher school aged students to track Enlightenment ideas to and through the U.S. Declaration of Independence. K-5 Students can learn to make historical connections as they explore revolutionary Williamsburg and meet young people around the city.
Grades 3-5
Uncovering Loyalties
It's 1774 in Williamsburg, and tensions in the British American Colonies are rising. You're invited to engage with young people around the city to see if independence is in the air... or not?
Uncovering Loyalties puts you at the center of the action in pre-revolutionary Virginia. Commissioned by Lord Dunmore, players will ask questions, listen to responses, and apply critical-thinking skills to identify where loyalties lie.
Discover how history is always more interesting… once you start asking questions.

Grades 9-12
Investigation Declaration
An international crime of epic proportions has occurred. Members of a global crime ring, Baddies Against Rights & Freedom (B.A.R.F. for short), have hacked the most elite of institutions…the Bureau of Ideas!
B.A.R.F. aims to destroy any and all files related to freedom, democracy, and rights.
Take on the role of Secret Agent 6 and travel across the Atlantic World and over 100 years of history to investigate records that connect Enlightenment ideals to the United States Declaration of Independence and beyond.
