Nassau Street, Past, Present, and Future

Did you know that big changes are coming to Nassau Street? Whether it's the original permanent location of the First Baptist Church or Custis Square's fabulous gardens, archaeology is where it all starts! Join us for a walking tour of Nassau Street and learn how archaeology has contributed to the reconstructed landscape you see today. We will share how we're still working to fully understand what the African Baptist Meeting House and Burial Ground, Williamsburg Bray School and Custis Square archaeology sites have to teach us. You'll even get a sneak peek at what the future holds for this important historic corridor! Tour groups meet on Nassau Street, outside the Taliaferro-Cole Stable.

A portion of this tour will enter archaeological sites, which may be difficult for wheelchairs and other mobility equipment due to uneven terrain. Tours are weather-dependent.
