Robert Cloutier

Each year, one talented applicant is selected to be a Colonial Williamsburg 3D Visualization fellow (made possible in part by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities). This year’s honor went to Rob Cloutier, a professional 3D animator, and consultant from Maryland. He is the owner of Digital History Studios and has been a 3D cinematic animator for the past 25+ years, 12 of which had been in the computer gaming field.

Cloutier has worked on several high profile games such as Sid Meier's Civilization IV, Sid Meier's Pirates, Sid Meier's Railroads, Rise of Nations, and many other history-oriented titles. He has taught classes on 3D animation, published articles in international trade-oriented periodicals, and has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus (UMBC), teaching a course on Virtual Reality. Robert helped produce the Berlin Wall Virtual Reality Experience for the Newseum, generating the 3D environments and other assets for the project. He has also presented on several Virtual Reality panel discussions for various groups in DC, Boston and Puerto Rico.  You can see his 360 Animation Demo reel here and his standard Animation Demo reel here.
