Nicholas-Tyler Laundry

Hotels

Located on the site of the Nicholas-Tyler House, the Nicholas-Tyler Laundry is named for Robert Carter Nicholas, treasurer of the colony of Virginia in the 18th century, and John Tyler. Tyler and his family were living in the home in 1841 when news was delivered that President William Henry Harrison had died and Tyler would become the tenth president of the United States. Located on the corner of E. Francis Street and S. England St., this building was reconstructed in 1941.
